Continuing Professional Development or CPD is a mandatory requirement by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in renewing professional licenses under Section 10 of R.A. 10912 also known as the CPD Law of 2016.
According to PRC, the CPD Council for each regulated profession shall issue its Operational Guidelines to implement the general IRR for its profession. The CPD refers to the inculcation of advanced knowledge, skills and ethical values in a post-licensure specialization or in an inter- or multidisciplinary field of study, for assimilation into professional practice, self-directed research and/or life-long learning. PRC added that those professionals whose Professional Regulatory Laws require CPD credit units prior to the renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PICs), or the professional license, compliance with CPD remains mandatory.
PRC licensed Nurses, along with many other registered and licensed professionals have to adhere with the law, otherwise, they could not be permitted to renew their license(s). The commission stated in Resolution No. 2016-990 series of 2016 that professionals have to comply with specific number of CPD units every three (3) years to continue with license renewal.
These units can be earned through Formal/Non-formal/Informal activities, Self-directed/Online learning, and through professional work experience. Nurses are required to accumulate at least 45 units in order to renew their license..
Fortunately, Batiti Ground offers opportunities for nurses to acquire these required units through its BLS/ACLS Training under the American Heart Association standards and through its iNurse Program, a self-directed training program held in partnership with Educate Simplify Healthcare Education Company, which provides venues for nurses to earn CPD units through Socio-Civic activities (community immersion and outreach).
